Stripe Friendship Towels - Digital Download

I’ve woven this ubiquitous towel many times over the years and have always enjoyed the results. But I wanted to see if I could update it with a modern look by adding contrast colors and a bit of color and weave. (You can find the Friendship Towels pattern here). I used black striping so that I could play with lots of color combos to see the effects. Change them up as you desire.

Note that there is an adaption in () to weave on a 19.75” Erica loom.

Level of Difficulty - Intermediate Beginner

Structure - Huckaback

What’s Needed?

  • 4-Shaft loom with a 21”+ weaving width. (19.75" for the Erica Loom Variation)
  • 10-dent reed
  • 2 shuttles

Finished Size - 17” x 26” , including 1/2" folded hems. This pattern makes 4 towels

Yarn

Warp & Weft - 8/2 Cotton, M.Brassard, 8oz, 1680 yd. cones (available at Yarnorama). 3 cones, 2 of Color A (light), 1 of Color B (dark). We used Natural and Black for warp and some wefts, using other stash colors, as desired, in the weft also.
