Easy Rag Rug Placemats - Digital Download

If you have loads of fabric stash and would like some generously sized, sturdy placemats, this easy project is just for you. Match them up or mix and match. Either way, this is a great stash buster project.

Weaving Structure: Plain Weave
What’s Needed?

  • 4-Shaft loom or Rigid Heddle Loom with a 15-3/4” weaving width
  • 8-dent reed
  • 2 shuttles, one a rag shuttle or stick shuttle

Finished Size:14” x 18-3/4”, including hems. This pattern will make 4 placemats.

Yarn:

Warp- 8/4 Maysville Cotton Rug Warp, 8oz, 840 yd cones (available at Yarnorama), 410 yards for 4 placemats.

Weft - 8/4 Maysville Cotton Rug Warp, 8oz, 840 yd cone, 100 yards for hems.

- 1” fabric strips. For best results. choose fabrics that have been printed through both sides, not ones that are white on the back. You will need about 5 yards of 45” wide fabric cut into the strips for the 4 placemats, 

For each additional placemat:
add 1-1/4 yards of fabric
add 125 yards of 8/4 Cotton Rug Warp
