Rows and Columns Scarf Pattern - Digital Download

This pattern is great for intermediate beginners or more experienced weavers who want a quick, fun project for gift giving and one that will provide lots of learning. The technique used is color-and-weave. It's a perfect accessory for warm weather or for those who can't wear wool.

This scarf is woven in plain weave, so suitable for rigid heddle or shaft loom weavers.

This pattern is just like the Rows and Columns Washcloths pattern, but with finishing info for a scarf, instead of the sewing and hemming required for the washcloths.

Requirements:

  • any rigid heddle or shaft loom with at least an 11+" weaving width.
  • 12-dent reed or one suitable to thread at 12 ends per inch
  • 2 shuttles

This was woven in plain weave to make a nice, drapey scarf. You could, also, weave this in a 4-shaft twill for a slightly more open fabric.

For colors, here is the Cotton Boucle. You’ll want to pick 3 contrasting colors in light, medium and dark tones. This scarf was woven with Honey, Light Blue and Sierra.
