These beautiful shuttles are handcrafted by Ken Ledbetter, also known as a master spindle maker. He has made these low profile so they can be used on any loom, including rigid heddle and table looms that tend to have narrow sheds than floor looms.
Each is super smooth, fits the hand perfectly, has a nice thumb indent to ensure proper throwing and is light enough to just sail through the shed with ease. (Can you tell that we LOVE these shuttles?)
Made from figured maple, all but the natural colors are hand dyed. Each shuttle is one of a kind, reflecting the piece of wood, it's dimensions and weight. They are all approximately 13" long, 1-5/8" wide and 1" tall and use a 6" bobbin with low flange (LeClerc or Ashford) or quills (our favorite!). Weights of the shuttles range from 3-1/4 to 3-5/8 ounces.
Note that the pictures are of one of the shuttles in that particular color. The one you receive will be very close, but may not be a complete match due to patterning differences in the piece of wood.
